A backchannel is a way to keep track of questions and comments that arise during a lecture. It’s a common way to post real-time resp0nses at live events, for example, a conference. Some ways of creating a backchannel in your course are:
- A private twitter channel for your course (requires specific user account permissions for your students)
- A twitter app for your webpage, set to follow your hashtag
- The discussion boards or chat functions in Blackboard
- A thread on Yammer, a domain-based social network much like Facebook
- A shared Google document
The comments on your channel can be archived for later use, or for study guides.
